Real Education... knowledge is a key to unlock
success!
The
very first things you learned, you learned at home. Real Education begins at home even
when children go to school to learn the academics. It is everyone's responsibility to make
sure their children are taught the things they need to know, and we have gathered many
resources to make your job easier.
This entire site is
dedicated to showing you how to have real wealth in every single area of your life.
This is especially important when you consider knowledge. Knowledge is the
most important kind of wealth. No one can ever take your knowledge from you, and
with it you can do anything you set your mind to. With that in mind, we chose to
homeschool our children.
Whether you want this information for yourself or your children,
whether you homeschool or need resources for homework, this is where you will find the
links you need.
Check back often. We try to keep the content
fresh and add to our link collection often. Have a link you'd like to see here?
Have an educational, reference, or homeschool site? E-mail us the URL!
Any link within the categories that goes to another site will open a separate
window for your convenience.
If you find a link
that does not work properly, please contact us so that we can either fix the problem or
remove it. We try to check the links regularly, but so many pages move that we can use
your help. And be sure to let us know if you have a link that you feel should be listed
here. Thanks!
If you are currently
homeschooling your children and need another source of income, or you would like another
source of income so that you can stay home and teach your own children, visit the real income section of our site. We
would like the opportunity to help you to reach those goals.

I would like to welcome everybody here,
particularly our witnesses to this subcommittee hearing in our series to learn more about
the many issues associated with the re-authorization of the Elementary and Secondary
Education Act. Today we will focus on character education. Just for edification, although
you all may know it, the Elementary and Secondary Act encompasses most of the federal
programs that deal with K through 12 education.
In the past, those who helped parents reinforce
values in their children, neighbors, coaches, teachers, guidance counselors and many
others, wouldn't necessarily have recognized a role as a character educator. It was just
something that friends and family did to foster a sense of community among its youngest
members. Unfortunately, in an increasingly transient society, where both parents often
work, this traditional model has been abandoned.
As a result, it now seems that some children lack
the basic values that would not only help them avoid unwanted pregnancies, drugs, alcohol
and violence, but also teach them the importance of being respectful and honest. Today
every teacher and every student can articulate the consequences of this neglect. The
recent rash of school shootings is one example, but so is the low voter turn out among
young people and their lack of involvement in community organizations.
As a result, many Americans are looking to
character education as one possible solution to the problems that plague our classrooms
and our communities. Today's witnesses are attempting to fill the values vacuum that
exists in our society. Among other things, these groups are working to help our young
people learn about ethical values, moral character and how to contribute to the betterment
of society.
